Supporting the local community

All profits made by Brothers Leagues Club Townsville go back to both its members and the community. Our club supports local community organizations through sponsorship, in-kind donations, and community program development. In the last eight years we have been able to provide the community with over 6million dollars in funding.

Community organisations that are seeking assistance with funding can go to the Community Grants Fund page on this website. This program dedicates $50,000 dollars to a fund that not-for-profit community groups can access and apply for grants of up to $5000.

The Brothers brand has a rich history in Rugby League and Brothers Leagues Club supports the code through in-kind donations and sponsorship. Grass-roots rugby league is at the heart of this club and each year we work towards growing the game throughout the community. We host many community focused activities such as the North Queensland Foley Shield Competition, ARL Foundation Cup, Laurie Spina Shield, Townsville Secondary Schools Rugby League Competitions, NASCA Challenge – 8 regional indigenous U15 teams sponsored by the Toyota Cowboys and the Pogue Cup – played between 2 Defense Force Army units. These field activities would not take place without the playing infrastructure and field maintenance fully paid for by Brothers Leagues Club.

Other sporting codes which Brothers support through the provision of facilities and equipment include Touch Football, Soccer, Rugby Union and Cricket.

Please feel free to browse the other pages in our Community section of this website to find out more about how you can be a part of other Brothers community programs.

The Good Box

Brothers were approached by the co-founders of The Good Box Gali and Madelyn in August 2021 to see if Brothers would be interested in making a positive difference within the Townsville community.

The Good Box is a social enterprise that creates beautifully packaged gift boxes for people experiencing homelessness in Australia. The Good Box provides support to those suffering from isolation and homelessness.

Brothers Leagues Club are excited to give our support to this foundation. We are proudly sponsoring 120 Good Boxes each month, a total commitment of over $32,000. It marks the single largest charitable donation for Brothers, something that it isn’t lost on CEO Justin Wilkins. “We are always looking to make a positive impact on our local community. After hearing the passion with which these ladies spoke of this cause, the Brothers’ board and myself recognised that this was a partnership we really wanted to explore,” Justin said.

On Tuesday 12th October 2021 staff from Brothers and Townsville & Districts Mendi Blackhawks had the opportunity to engage in one of The Good Box engagement programs. During this program, staff have packed 120 of the boxes, which to many felt to be a rewarding experience. Staff then went on a road-trip around Townsville to distribute these boxes to these locations.
